The difference has to with the molecular weight and branching which is when a monomer or atom is replaced by a longer chain of polymers (a long repeating chain of atoms). High Density is commonly used for milk jugs and food containers. UHMW PE does not thermoform very well. It is also quite soft and mushy. HDPE does thermoform well, but not as well as Kydex because, being crystalline rather than amorphous, it has a narrow processing window. In my opinion it would work okay, but not as well as kydex. No polyolefin is as snappy as kydex. They also tend to creep over time. HDPE is not as durable as UHMW.HDPE is used in most of your containers,industrial tanks, toys and what ever.
